Artificial intelligence company Elemental Cognition and oneworld Alliance announced this week that they have completed initial testing of a new jointly-developed, AI-driven booking tool. The new tool is aimed towards helping customers plan and book “Round the World” (RTW) tickets onboard oneworld Alliance’s member airlines.

RTW tickets are multi-destination flight packages offered at a single price, primarily by various airline alliances like oneworld Alliance, SkyTeam, or Star Alliance. With oneworld Alliance, customers can choose from three types of RTW trips, including continent-based fares, extended network distance-based fares, and multi-continent ‘Circle-Pacific’ fares.
Although most standard, single-destination travel today is booked online, customers still frequently utilize live booking-agents for RTW itineraries due to their complexity. The new oneworld Alliance tool is aimed towards giving customers the level of assistance normally provided by a live booking agent, but from an online platform.
