In a significant move aimed at providing relief to Sudanese nationals facing hardship and uncertainty, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced a new visa category.
The ‘Crisis & Disaster Countries Visa’ offers a one-year temporary residence permit to Sudanese citizens, allowing them to seek refuge, rebuild their lives, and access essential support during times of distress.
What is happening in Sudan?
Sudan is on the verge of disintegration as forces loyal to two competing generals battle for control of the resource-rich North African country. According to UN data, the continuous fighting has killed hundreds of people, injured thousands more, and displaced hundreds of thousands while a lot of Sudanese citizens are stranded in different countries including the UAE.
Assisting Sudanese Nationals with Visa Fines
In view of this, the Al Nahda Centre, responsible for immigration matters, has officially listed this new visa option on its website, providing detailed instructions and guidance for applicants. Sudanese individuals who have previously resided in the UAE and have accumulated visa fines need not worry.
The Al Nahda Centre is dedicated to assisting them throughout the entire process, starting from the Visa Medical requirements.
This compassionate approach ensures that Sudanese nationals with outstanding fines can clear their records and proceed with the application process.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the one-year visa, Sudan nationals must fall under either of the following categories:
Visit visa holders currently inside the UAE.
Individuals who have cancelled their visas need to pay fines that were issued prior to April 15, 2023.
