Air Canada’s pilots have decided to withdraw from their nine-year-old labor framework with the airline ahead of negotiations this summer. The airline’s pilot union merged with the larger Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) earlier this month.

As reported by Reuters, the Canadian airline’s pilots will exercise an escape clause to pull out of their existing framework, which was due to expire next year. The clause brings its expiration forward to September 29th, 2023, enabling pilots to negotiate an improved deal during “full bargaining” this summer.
