While many people have heard of and flown with Spanish low-cost carrier Vueling, did you know there is a Vueling-themed hotel in Barcelona? In 2012 the International Airlines Group (IAG)-owned airline partnered with Catalonia Hotels to create a chain of hotels.
The first hotel opened in Vueling’s home city of Barcelona in 2013 and features 63 rooms designed around the cities that Vueling flies to.
Called the “Hotel Catalonia Gran Via BCN,” the hotel is not at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) but in the trendy Eixample neighborhood of Barcelona, an area full of cafés and upmarket shopping that is popular with millennials.
Speaking of shopping, Eixample is where you will find the city’s Passeig de Gràcia, a street full of designer brand shops such as Channel, Luis Vuitton, Gucci, and Stella Mc Cartney. In the Eixample neighborhood, you will find Michelin-star restaurants offering the finest Spanish dishes and eateries offering international cuisine from Thailand, India, and Mexico.
The Catalonia Gran Via BCN hotel is an ideal spot for exploring Barcelona, with metro and bus stops on its doorstep. It is also convenient for travelers who need to get to and from Barcelona-El Prat Airport, as the T1 and T2 buses have a stop right next to the hotel. From the hotel, it is possible to walk to the old Gothic quarter of the city as well as the Plaza Cataluña and the famous pedestrian Las Ramblas thoroughfare.
According to reviews on Booking.com, 1,494 guests rate the 4-star Catalonia Gran Via BCN as excellent, giving the facility an 8.7 out of a possible ten points.
