German Airbus A340 Startup USC Signs For Passenger To Freight Conversion With Avensis

Avensis Aviation has reached an agreement with German startup carrier USC to convert its passenger Airbus A340s into freighter aircraft. The UK-based passenger-to-freighter (P2F) conversion specialist has revealed that USC will subsequently become the world’s first customer of the Airbus A340P2F

USC is a German start-up airline, that plans to begin wet-leasing operations later this summer, flying passenger A340s on long-haul routes from Frankfurt Airport (FRA). The carrier then intends to convert them to freighter aircraft. USC received its first aircraft, an Airbus A340-300, in February this year, and its fleet is expected to eventually be made up of both the A340-300 and the larger A340-600.

While the aircraft will begin flying passenger services, the long-term plan is for Avensis Aviation to install its NAVIS main deck cargo door on the A340s, which will enable easy and efficient loading of substantial cargo loads. The benefits of the NAVIS cargo door include reduced conversion downtime compared to other freighter conversions, as well as a more flexible, faster, and cost-effective operational performance.

An innovative partnership

The Chief Executive Officer of Avensis Aviation, Cristian Sutter, celebrated the partnership with USC and explained some more of the advantages of the company’s NAVIS door, saying,
